AbstractAcute kidney injury occurs in approximately one-quarter to one-third of patients with major burn injury. Apart from the usual suspects - such as older age, severity of burn injury, sepsis and multiple organ dysfunction - volume overload probably has an important role in the pathogenesis of acute kidney injury.
