AbstractDrowning and other asphyxial injuries are important causes of childhood morbidity and mortality. In this review, the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and treatments applied to near-drowning victims are discussed, with an emphasis on the difficulties encountered attempting to predict outcome using current methods.
