AbstractRhabdomyolysis is characterized by the release of intracellular elements after the destruction of skeletal muscle. Is characterized by the presence of muscle pain, weakness, and dark urine, associated with elevated creatine kinase (CK). The causes related to this syndrome are varied, being traumatic etiology, immobilization, sepsis, drugs and alcohol the most frequent. CK values are used for diagnosis and prognosis, being renal dysfunction the most serious complication. Treatment is based on early and intensive fluid therapy to avoid kidney complications.Copyright © 2021 Elsevier España, S.L.U. All rights reserved.
