IntroductionPostoperative thoracogastric necrosis (TGN) associated with thoracogastric-tracheal fistula (TGTF) of an endoscopic McKeown-type resection of esophageal carcinoma is rare and has a poor prognosis and high mortality. Few cases have been reported and successful treatment is rare. Surgery is the major treatment option.Patient ConcernsA 71-year-old man was hospitalized in a local hospital for more than 2 months due to dysphagia. The patient was previously healthy and had no underlying diseases.DiagnosisTGN associated with TGTF of an endoscopic McKeown-type resection of esophageal carcinoma.InterventionTwo-stage surgeries were performed.OutcomeThe patient recovered well at the time of the follow-up examination on April 4, 2021 with an ECOG score of 0.ConclusionStaging surgery can be an alternative treatment for TGN associated with TGTF of an endoscopic McKeown-type resection of esophageal carcinoma.Copyright © 2022 the Author(s).
