AbstractAlcohol use disorders are frequent among patients examined in emergency. Prevalence of alcohol use disorders is 17% in this population. Prevalence rate is still higher among psychiatric emergencies. Systematic assessment of alcohol use disorders permits to identify these pathological situations and to propose a treatment. It avoids consequences of long-term dependence. A brief questionnaire like the CAGE questionnaire appears useful and effective in this context.
