Abstract24 type II diabetic patients who displayed persistent fasting hyperglycaemia on maximal sulphonylurea therapy were treated with a combination of insulin and sulphonylurea agents. Satisfactory control of blood glucose levels was achieved by means of this therapeutic regimen. The good results on carbohydrate metabolism in these patients were maintained over a follow-up period of one year.
