AbstractImmediate lymphatic reconstruction (ILR) may prevent lymphedema and decrease costs. Nationwide data suggest that current relative value unit (RVU) allocation undervalues ILR, thus introducing inefficiency into breast cancer operations when coupled with ILR. The RVUs assigned to ILR should be reevaluated in order to protect patient access to this procedure.
