AbstractAcute arterial occlusion of the lower limbs is a medical and surgical emergency due to its morbi-mortality. We present the case of a 59-year-old man admitted to the emergency department for acute and diffuse pain in the left lower limb caused by extensive obstructive clots in the arteries of this limb. Since atheromatous cause was unlikely after angioscopy of the lower limbs, a cardiac origin was suspected. Echocardiogram was normal, however, thoracic angiotomography revealed a floating thrombus in the aortic arch. The patient was treated surgically with placement of an aortic endoprosthesis without complications.
