AbstractCabotegravir (Apretude) is an extended-release injectable HIV type 1 (HIV-1) antiretroviral integrase strand transfer inhibitor. Cabotegravir is labeled for use in adults and adolescents weighing at least 35 kg (77 lb) who are HIV-negative but at risk of HIV-1. It is used as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to reduce the risk of sexually acquired HIV-1 infection, the most common form of HIV.1.
