AbstractRecent updates to guidelines around brain imaging in stroke and transient ischaemic attack are reviewed. A more detailed examination of advanced brain imaging in acute stroke is presented. The recent evidence for endovascular mechanical thrombectomy in acute stroke is reviewed. The implications of delivering thrombectomy are discussed.© Royal College of Physicians 2018.
