AbstractHypertension remains one of the most prevalent conditions encountered in the primary care setting and is a major contributor to cardiovascular disease in the United States. This reality underscores the importance for primary care clinicians to have an understanding of hypertension guidelines, interventions, and population-based considerations. This article provides a succinct overview of hypertension guidelines, reviews guideline-informed approaches to hypertension screening, diagnosis, and treatment, and concludes with a thoughtful discussion of population-based considerations.Copyright © 2023 Elsevier Inc.
