AbstractGestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is the most prevalent metabolic complication during pregnancy. GDM is associated with adverse perinatal, neonatal, and long-term health consequences. Studies have demonstrated that the use of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) reduces the incidence of maternal and neonatal complications in pregnant women with type 1 diabetes. Although the use of CGM in GDM has not been well studied, a growing body of evidence is showing potential benefits in the GDM population. This article discusses the advantages and challenges of CGM and provides practical guidelines for using this technology in the GDM population.
