AbstractTinnitus is a common medical disorder. The risk factors include hearing loss, ototoxic medications, head injuries, and depression. Therefore, ear disorders, anxiety, and depression should be considered in the treatment of tinnitus. Although considerable research has been conducted on the pathogenesis and treatment of tinnitus, there is currently no effective treatment. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has a certain effect on tinnitus and a large number of clinical trials have been conducted. Its treatment methods vary and include TCM, acupuncture, and music therapy. TCM treatment of tinnitus usually takes the method of comprehensive treatment, not only relying on drugs but also safety. Therefore, this review explores the treatment of tinnitus using acupuncture combined with medicine, based on the new pathophysiological mechanism of tinnitus.Copyright © 2024 the Author(s).
