BackgroundThere are a large number of free services for people who are blind or vision impaired.ObjectiveAs the population of Australia ages, it is becoming increasingly important that general practitioners have an understanding of the range of services available to people with disabilities.DiscussionGeneral practitioners are well placed to provide information to patients about these services. Appropriate support from blindness agencies can enable people who are blind or vision impaired to live independent lives.
