BackgroundTo investigate the effect of Midnight-noon Ebb-flow combined with five-element music therapy in the continuous nursing of patients with chronic wounds.MethodsFrom March 2022 to November 2023, we recruited 50 eligible chronic wound patients and randomly divided them into two groups according to a random number table: the experimental group (n = 25) and the control group (n = 25). The control group was treated with conventional nursing measures. The experimental group received Midnight non Ebb flow Combined with Five element Music Therapy on the basis of the control group.ResultsThe Self Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) of the experimental group (39.71 ± 4.30 points vs. 50.29 ± 3.54 points, t = 4.927,p < 0.001)、The Self Rating Depression Scale (SDS) (42.09 ± 6.23 points vs. 53.98 ± 3.50 points, t = 5.381,p < 0.001)、 The total score of the Pressure Ulcer Healing Scale (PUSH) (2.12 ± 3.71 points vs. 4.80 ± 3.76 points, t = 2.535, p = 0.015) was lower than that of the control group; The total score of the 36 item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36) (102.88 ± 5.88 vs 92.48 ± 6.99 points, t = -5.692, p < 0.001) was higher than that of the control group; Comparing the VAS scores of two groups of patients on days 1, 3, and 7, it was found that the control group was higher than the observation group at all three time points; Secondly, the effective rate of wound healing in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group (92% vs 68%, x2 = 4.500, p = 0.034).ConclusionMidnight-noon Ebb-flow combined with five-element music therapy is a nursing intervention program with considerable benefits for the treatment of chronic wounds, such as effective progress in wound health outcomes, alleviation of patients' anxiety, depression, and pain symptoms, and consequently improvement in quality of life.© 2024 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.
