AbstractRuptured aortic dissection after aortic valve replacement (AVR) is uncommon and rarely diagnosed premortem. We report a patient with a ruptured type I aortic dissection and biatrial tamponade 2 months after AVR caused by loculated intrapericardial hematoma. The diagnosis was made by transthoracic echocardiography and confirmed at operation.
