AbstractThis article (the second of two) describes traditional (frequentistic) statistical analysis in the context of the confidence interval. Bayesian analysis is described in two settings. In the choice between diagnostic alternatives, the bayesian approach offers useful integration of new information with previous knowledge. With regard to the evaluation of clinical trial data, this article exemplifies bayesian analysis as contrasted with traditional analysis, and advantages of the former are cited. A brief literature review exposes the wide applicability of bayesian analysis in medical statistics.
