AbstractA case of epidural infection following epidural catheterization is presented. The clinical signs initially were backpain and a small swelling at the site of insertion. Treatment with dicloxacillin was begun, presuming a Staphylococcus-infection. The symptoms persisted. Weeks later the patient developed meningitis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa was cultivated. Antibiotic treatment was changed to ceftazidime, netilmycin and ciprofloxacin. Complete recovery followed.
