AbstractFor many years, healthcare and social service workers have faced a significant risk of work-related violence. In this article, OSHA's new violence prevention guidelines are presented, providing the agency's recommendations for reducing workplace violence. Through these guidelines, OSHA assists healthcare and social service employers and providers in preventing such violence and in providing a safe and healthful workplace through effective violence prevention programs. By adopting these practical measures, OSHA states, the serious threat to worker safety can be significantly reduced.
