AbstractAcute fatty liver of pregnancy (AFLP) is a rare, but often fatal disorder in the third trimester of pregnancy. We report on a patient with AFLP complicated by acute hemorrhagic diathesis, who survived after early diagnosis and adequate treatment. On electronmicroscopy, the characteristic microvesicular fatty deposits in the centrolobular hepatocytes could be demonstrated.
