AbstractPeripheral tissue and nerve injury lead to chronic pain symptoms, including spontaneous pain, allodynia and hyperalgesia. Sympathetic nervous system involves in pathological changes above, either through development of abnormal sympathetic function or through its effects on abnormally functioning afferent nerves, thereby to cause many neuropathic pains. This review focuses on the progress at present of sympathetic-sensory coupling and its receptors, intracellular and neural mechanisms.
