AbstractA personal record of a pseudoanaphylactic reaction to procaine penicillin G is presented, together with a brief discussion of the topic. Since procaine penicillin is widely used in Papua New Guinea the reaction may be more common than is generally realized. The reaction is not a true anaphylaxis and is probably caused by the procaine component after inadvertent intravenous injection of the drug.
