AbstractIn summary pleural complications in the ICU are common. Pneumothorax in a mechanically ventilated patient is a medical emergency that requires prompt diagnosis and therapy. Correct diagnosis and therapy of pleural effusions will assist in improving pulmonary physiology and outcome in the ICU patient.
