AbstractOn the basis of the analysis of medical histories, clinical pattern of the disease, hemodynamic data and pathologic anatomical findings, conclusions are made as to causes of death in patients with acute myocardial infarction aggravated by cardiogenic shock (with intra-aortal balloon contrapulsation as part of combined treatment). They are mostly related to the duration of coronary disease in the different group of patients. The best results were obtained in cases where coronary disease had lasted for about five years, and the shock developed around 15 hours after the onset of myocardial infarction.
