AbstractHip dislocation is an orthopaedic emergency. We report a 79 year-old woman, who was brought to the emergency department after falling on her knee at home. An X-ray confirmed a posterior dislocation of her left hip. A successful prompt reduction was performed in the operation room under general anaesthesia. This uncommon injury represents an orthopaedic emergency and requires immediate reduction to lessen the risk of complications including avascular necrosis of the femoral head.
