AbstractLaparoscopic incisional hernia repair can be associated with initial postoperative pain requiring opioids in the form of patient controlled analgesia (PCA). Our study demonstrates the use of an innovative form of intra-operative regional anaesthesia in the form of an abdominal extraperitoneal block (AEP) which reduced mean opioid consumption in our patients by 62% without any intra-operative complications.
