    AbstractRevision spinal surgery is usually indicated in cases of persistent or recurrent symptoms related to neural compression, spinal deformity, or construct failure. An understanding of fundamental biomechanical principles of both spinal decompression and reconstructive strategies is essential to avoid unnecessary subsequent spinal operations.
