AbstractStroke should not solely be considered a disease of the elderly, and racial disparities are most evident among young adults. Acute stroke can present at any age and it is important to be familiar with the evaluation and treatment of stroke to provide timely care. The National Institute of Health Stroke Scale helps physicians objectively evaluate stroke patients.
