AbstractIngested button battery perforation of Meckel's diverticulum is extremely rare, with only two reported cases in the recent literature. Two additional preschool children who accidentally swallowed an alkaline button battery and developed a perforated Meckel's diverticulum are reported. Surgeons should be aware of this rare complication. Careful clinical, radiologic and laboratory monitoring of children who ingest a button battery is advisable.
