AbstractChildren with upper-airway emergencies are among the most challenging patients you'll treat. Many have life-threatening causes of airway obstruction. EMS personnel must become acquainted with the unique considerations of pediatric patients with airway obstruction. Additionally, children have anatomical and physiological differences from adults that complicate airway management. Many pathologic processes result in airway compromise, some of which require specific therapy.
