AbstractA 28-year-old male developed tension pneumopericardium following penetrating paraxiphoid injury to the pericardial space. We found no previous reports of this unique problem. Pneumopericardium associated with penetrating chest trauma warrants thorough exploratory surgery to rule out direct cardiac injury.
