AbstractThis series comprises 527 missile victims of armed combat managed at Base Hospital, Polonnaruwa (BHP) during a five year period commencing January 1984. The injuries were multiple and involved many regions of the body. The results are compared with recent reports from other countries with similar conflicts. The inadequacy of first aid and the lack of organised transport for the victims are emphasised with suggestions to improve the care of such patients.
