AbstractAn organized approach for the management of the multiply injured patient has been presented. Adequate equipment and ancillary facilities support patient care. The principles of airway management, treatment of shock, and specific organ injuries have been described. More than one surgical discipline may work on a patient simultaneously; however, one physician, preferably the trauma surgeon or general surgeon, is in charge and coordinates the consultative care.
