AbstractWe report a 6-month audit of the running of a pre-admission assessment clinic for routine general surgical admissions. An attendance rate of 91.4% of fit patients ready for surgery on the day of admission was achieved. Of all patients attending the pre-admission clinics, 79.5% underwent surgery as planned. Pre-admission clinics are recommended as a method of improving the efficiency of elective surgical admissions.
