AbstractThere is a wide range of indications for therapeutic bronchoscopy in children today: foreign body removal, bronchoaspiration, endoscopy-assisted tracheal intubation, selective intubation and airway management during thoracic surgery or in children undergoing mechanical ventilation. Some adult-derived methods may find potential indications in pediatric patients: airway stenosis dilation, laser photoresection, tracheobronchial stenting. There are no rules regarding such procedures in children, and supposed benefits have to be weighted against those of more conventional therapies.
