AbstractAnal intra-epithelial neoplasia is of high incidence in the post-highly active antiretroviral treatment era especially among men, who have sex with men (MSM). This article focuses on the relation between infection with oncogenic HPV types and anal intra-epithelial neoplasia, and the potential progression to anal cancer. Vaccine studies with the quadrivalent HPV vaccine in HIV-negative MSM shows promising results regarding preventing development of HGAIN.
