    BackgroundNo systematic studies of delirium in adults with intellectual disabilities have been reported. Reasons for the absence of research are discussed.MethodsTwo cases of delirium are described which meet the Diagnostic Criteria for Psychiatric Disorders for Use with Adults with Learning Disabilities/Mental Retardation [DC-LD].ConclusionsDC-LD offers a diagnostic framework that permits comparison with premorbid cognitive function.
