AbstractWe report a patient in whom urinary retention as a transient neurologic symptoms (TNS) developed after accidental total spinal anesthesia with mepivacaine hydrochloride. Mepivacaine, an amide local anesthetic, has been used for spinal anesthesia and considered one of the best for spinal anesthesia for its low incidence of TNS. However, we suggest that TNS associated with mepivacaine might not be a rare complication in spinal anesthesia.
