ImplicationsWe present a technique of intraoperative monitoring of the recurrent laryngeal nerve using a surface electrode attached to a routine endotracheal tube. The technique proved noninvasive, easy to use, and reliable in 151 prospective consecutive patients for preventing permanent laryngeal nerve damage in thyroid surgery.
