AbstractTransmediastinal gunshot wounds may result in damage to the heart, large blood vessels, esophagus or lung. In hemodynamically stable patients, diagnostic examinations have critical importance and the preferred therapies still have unresolved points. In this paper, we present our experience with five patients, three of whom were operated for transmediastinal gunshot wounds after diagnostic tests; all were hemodynamically stable. Before deciding on operation, diagnostic tests should be performed in hemodynamically stable patients with transmediastinal gunshot wounds.
