AbstractMyocardial protection is the corner stone of cardiac surgery. In recent years there has been a renewed interest in the retrograde delivery of cardioplegia in coronary artery surgery and also in aortic valve replacement several reports have suggested the advantages of this technique. We describe our experience with retrograde cardioplegia in 25 patients undergoing aortic valve surgery, and discuss the advantages and limitations of this technique.
