AbstractOur aims were to seek the opinion of consultant anaesthetists about the competence of maxillofacial SHOs to make preoperative assessments, and to compare the competence of maxillofacial SHOs with that of medically-trained SHOs in preoperative assessment as assessed by consultant anaesthetists. We concluded that most of the consultant anaesthetists who replied to our questionnaire were satisfied with the standard of preoperative assessment by maxillofacial SHOs.
