AbstractSerious complications after carotid sinus massage are rare. A case is described of monoplegia complicating carotid sinus massage in an elderly patient without symptoms or signs of cerebrovascular disease. We remind physicians of this potential complication and suggest that alternative therapies be considered prior to the use of carotid sinus massage in this age group.
