Abstract23 patients with intracranial arteriovenous malformations and durafistulas were embolized. 13 underwent embolization with polyvinylalcohol and silk threads as the only means of therapy, while six were also operated on, and four received radiation after considerable reduction of the nidus had been achieved. No death or major complications occurred in these patients. The authors considered the embolization to be successful in all cases.
