AbstractPerianesthesia patients and families are susceptible to vasodepressor syncope. Understanding the physiological mechanisms responsible for syncope, the Bezold-Jarisch reflex, will allow the perianesthesia nurse to minimize the physical and emotional sequele of the common faint.
