AbstractTwo cases of cardiac tamponade initially suspected to be secondary to malignancy are presented. Primary hypothyroidism can cause pericardial effusions and thyroid function tests confirmed this diagnosis in these cases. Hypothyroidism should be considered as an underlying cause of pericardial effusion in cardiac tamponade.
