AbstractTraumatic pneumothoraces in ventilated premature infants are mostly related to high applied airway pressures. We report five cases of pneumothorax after endotracheal tube suctioning that illustrate two different mechanisms by which this may occur. Following suggested preventive measures, such complications have not recurred.
