AbstractThe authors explore the meaning of failure to rescue and highlight empirical links between processes of care and failure to rescue that arise through a critique of nursing literature. They provide an example of one approach where administrative billing data were used to better understand healthcare system issues and practice patterns influencing failure to rescue.
