    AbstractDelirium (confusion) is an acute, reversible and fluctuating compromise of awareness and cognitive function, a state that can increase morbidity and mortality. We describe four patients with delirium associated with agitation and hyperadrenergic states refractory to haloperidol but responsive to dexmedetomidine.
