AbstractThe spinal opioid anaesthesia indicated its onset in 1982 with the report of Mircea et al. on its usage in surgery. Our aim was to study the possibilities for the usage of Petidine as a single drug for anaesthesia in caesarean section as well as its effect on the newborns. Fifty women with elective caesarean section and their infants were investigated in respect to: time of occurrence of anaesthesia, level of sensory block, presence of motor block, duration of anaesthesia and side reactions. The newborns were studied in respect to: clinical state evaluated by Apgar score, acid-base balance (ABB) as well as blood gases in the umbilical artery (UA), umbilical vena (UV) and capillary blood within the first hour after delivery. The authors think that the spinal opioid anesthesia with Petidine can be used in caesarean section. Infants are born with very good clinical state, ABB and gases in blood. capillary blood within the first hour after delivery.
